Burrow In The Blossom Tree

This picture came from me sketching different ideas one day. I’d been inspired by the trees in our garden and the little rabbit that lives next door. I wanted to place the rabbit in a natural scene, surrounded by flowers, to bring out a vibrant feeling of a blossoming spring day. The bight pinks, purples, and yellows of the blooms, set against the warm tree trunk, sparked that lively energy I aimed to capture.

I decided to bring the artwork to life with a careful blend of watercolour’s softness, layering in fine pen lines and bold acrylic touches to capture the depth and texture I find in nature. I also added in a touch of iridescent watercolour to give a bright, lively feel. I chose to keep the rabbit white to really make her stand out amid all the vibrant flowers, using 300gsm watercolor paper in A5 size, its subtle texture enhancing the piece’s natural vibrancy.

With "Burrow in the Blossom Tree," I hope to instill a feeling of freedom and happiness in the viewer, capturing the emotion of the little rabbit, free amongst the flowers and trees.

Take a look at the inspiration and the picture in more detail below, and I hope you’ll find a moment to connect with this joyful freedom.
